Al Rijal - Translated from Spanish to English

Al Rijal’s 8 volumes: El libro Conplido en los Iudizios de las Estrellas

I am suuuper excited to announce that I’m translating all 8 volumes of El libro Conplido en los Iudizios de las Estrellas (“The Complete Book on the Judgment of the Stars”) by Al Rijal from Spanish to English. 🇪🇸/🇺🇸 I’ll be releasing the translations monthly as I go, beginning April 18, 2026.

Abū l-Ḥasan 'Alī ibn Abī l-Rijāl (10th–11th century) was a prominent Arab astrologer and astronomer from Tunisia who served as a court astrologer to the Zirid prince al-Muizz Ibn Badis. This work was originally translated by Yehudā ben Moshe from Arabic into Old Castilian Spanish for Alfonso X of Castile, Spain, in 1254.

Al Rijal translations will be available for just $6 / Month on Patreon

The translations will be released on a monthly basis, 2-3 chapters at a time depending on length, beginning April 18. We will go in order, beginning with Book 1.

My goal is to make Al Rijal more accessible to our larger astrological community. For full transparency, I will include the original Spanish side-by-side with my English translation, along with all footnotes and illustrations/tables from the original text.

The 8 books are divided as follows:

The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd books cover interrogations

The 4th and 5th books cover nativities

The 6th book covers the revolution of the years of nativities

The 7th book covers electional astrology

The 8th book discusses the revolutions of the years of the world

I hope these translations enhance your astrological practice as they have mine. Al Rijal’s work is such a treasure, as it echoes and expands upon other medieval astrologers in the tradition.

Please consider spreading the word on this translation project. I look forward to your comments, insights, and observations in the comments. Thank you for your support!
