January 2026 - When to apply for your next job using Astrology

Happy New Year, friends! This month’s election takes advantage of an exalted Moon in the 11th (the house of associates /networks) and she’s supported by a Venus in her own bound.

Yes, it’s another Cancer rising chart similar to last month! Why? Because the Sun in Capricorn earlier in January was burning and debilitating many of the would-be chart rulers for the January election.

While Mars WAS exalted in Capricorn earlier this month, a planet’s exaltation is only as good as it’s house ruler’s ability to support it. Saturn, the ruler of Capricorn was peregrine in Pisces for most of January and therefore not well equipped to support an exalted Mars in Capricorn.

This auspicious date falls towards the end of January.

The Election Window

This Cancer-rising chart is for timing when you click “submit” on your applications. I’ve outlined a game plan below to help you get everything ready.

We’re aiming to submit applications when the Ascendant degree is as close to Jupiter as we can without going over into Leo. All times are Pacific Standard Time (PST).

MONDAY, JANUARY 26, 2026

🟡 Prep Time: 2:23 PM PST – 2:51 PM PST

This is your cushion before it’s go time. At 2:23 PM (PST) is around when the Ascendant first enters Cancer. If you have many applications to submit, you CAN start submitting as early as 2:23 PM (PST) when the Ascendant enters Cancer.

🟢 Go Time: 2:51 PM - 3:40 PM PST

This is the sweet spot, when the Ascendant is in the bound of Venus, at about 7º Cancer, within orb of the Moon at 16º Cancer. The MC is in Pisces, a sign traditionally ruled by this currently exalted Jupiter in the angular, first whole sign house. If possible, submit your most important applications between 2:51 PM and 3:40 PM PST. At 3:40, the Ascendant joins Jupiter at 17º Cancer, and the Moon with a sextile at 17º Taurus.

🟠 Wrap It Up: 3:40 PM PST – 4:16 PM PST

During this time window, the Ascendant will move past Jupiter, but still within orb of Jupiter and in Jupiter’s bound. As long as your Ascendant is in Cancer, in the first whole sign house, you’re still good to submit applications. Keep going if you’re not yet done, even if it’s past 4:16 PM but wrap it up before 4:38 PM.

🔴 Hard Stop: 4:38 PM PST

Stop after 4:38 PM PST, because the Ascendant will have changed to Leo, ruled by a Sun in the sign of his exile of Aquarius The election window is closed.

Why this election is good for submitting job applications:

  • The Moon is the chart ruler, and she is exalted in the sign of Taurus, in the 11th house of associates, friends and networks. She is separating from Venus and applying to Jupiter which is one of the most auspicious conditions for the Moon to be in. It’s like the Moon is leaving a hug and coming into a kiss!

  • Both Jupiter and Venus are well-resourced, supporting this Moon. Jupiter in the sign of his exaltation in Cancer, in the first whole sign house, and Venus in her own bound in Aquarius. Venus is way too close to the Sun for my liking but she has strength in her own bound of this sign.

  • A trine from Saturn in Pisces to the Ascendant does not harm the first whole sign house, as this is not a ‘harsh’ aspect. Mars IS squaring the Moon by whole sign, but that aspect is in the past.

  • When the Moon is in a harsh aspect with Mars or Saturn, we want to make sure the Moon is separating from these planets and not applying to them. Separating aspects represent the past, or what is behind us. What is in front of us is the next applying aspect of the Moon. In this chart, the Moon applies next to Jupiter and that’s the good that ahead!

  • Jupiter IS retrograde, so good will come with the bad, bad will come with the good.

I hope this new year brings us more abundance, choice and opportunity, and that you may find yourself among people who support you in your career transition. I’m also in a job hunt myself, and oooof! I know it’s tough out there in this current job market. Sending you love and solidarity, always.
